Where the Forest
is the Classroom
Sandersprouts Nature School invites children ages 3–4 into a world of wonder, inquiry, and deep connection — where every leaf, stone, bug, and bird becomes an invitation to learn.
Imagine a childhood
brimming with awe
Sandersprouts Nature School nurtures the whole child through imaginative play, connection with the natural world, and the freedom to explore, trusting that a childhood rich in beauty and wonder lays the deepest foundation for all that follows.
Rooted in the wisdom of Waldorf education, Sandersprouts offers children ages 3–4 an immersive, nature-forward learning experience in the magical eucalyptus forest of Buena Vista Park in North County, San Diego. Here, the living world is both teacher and text.
Discover our philosophy
Six Pillars of Learning
Every aspect of our program is shaped by these guiding principles, woven together to nurture the whole child — head, heart, and hands.
Living Classrooms
The forest, field, and stream are our schoolrooms. Children learn mathematics by counting stones, science by observing insects, and language by narrating the stories nature tells.
Whole-Child Nurturing
Honoring the Waldorf belief that each child is a unique expression of head, heart, and hands, we engage the physical, emotional, and intellectual dimensions of every young learner.
Emergent Inquiry
We trust children as capable, curious constructors of knowledge. Their questions become our curriculum; their discoveries become our lesson plans.
Adventurous Play
Climbing, balancing, and exploring build resilience, self-confidence, and gross motor mastery. We believe children cannot bounce off the walls if we take away the walls.
Environmental Stewardship
From their earliest days, our students become champions of the living world — learning to leave no trace, give thanks to the land, and carry a deep sense of responsibility for all life.
Seasonal Rhythms
Each week, month, and season brings new wonders. Waldorf-inspired seasonal celebrations and daily rhythms provide children with the security of predictable, meaningful rituals.
